Another great delight in this unique pub is nestled right at the back and goes by the name of The Foxes Den. Three cosy wooden booths or snugs, as they are known for most of our regulars and plenty of more intimate or quieter tables for you to enjoy a bit of privacy away from the hustle and bustle of the main bar area.
 

Drinking snugs according to old records were not originally built for comfort, but to accommodate those people who preferred to drink quietly and unseen. To slip in for a quick one obviously referred to those more reserved or shy individuals who may have held opinions on public houses, but at the same time, still liked a wee dram, provided no-one saw him or her taking it.

Those people are few and far between these days, but nevertheless the snug’ habit very much remains with us and although usually reserved during dinner times if it’s not booked it’s yours! Drink & eat the night away like our ancestors once did. If only the walls could talk?

The Den is perfect for business breakfasts, lunches and dinners, snuggling couples looking to hide away and if the party is big enough, your office or family celebrations. The Den can seat up to twenty-five but when not in use in its entirety can cater to much smaller numbers.

The Den can not be reserved during Monday – Friday Lunch, when we have a first come first seated policy. But if one of your guests wants to arrive early and take a pew, that’s no trouble at all. Dinners and weekends can be reserved.
